The Payton Project was founded in 2024 by Krysten Brown with a mission to help children in need, no matter their family circumstances.
Krysten’s inspiration for the foundation comes from her son, Payton. The first six years of Payton’s life were far from easy. He came into Krysten’s life in December 2019 and spent the next 1,226 days in the foster care system. After a long and emotional journey, Payton’s story reached a beautiful milestone on April 25, 2023, when he was officially adopted into Krysten’s family.
Witnessing firsthand the challenges and uncertainty Payton faced, Krysten felt called to make a lasting difference, not just for him, but for all children who experience hardship. She believes every child deserves the joy of Christmas morning, the excitement of a new backpack filled with fresh school supplies, and the opportunity to join in youth sports and community programs.
Through The Payton Project, Krysten’s vision is to ensure every child feels loved, supported, and seen, no matter their situation.
There are no words that express our gratitude for Krysten, who, at the time, was not even known to us. Her ability to express compassion and help fulfill the needs of a family such as ours with our son Gage and his incredible cancer journey was incredible. She drew so many people together for one family. Our family friends and extended family are truly humbled and thankful for Krysten. When we went through that confusing and painful time, she was faithful to be with us in every way possible, even until the victory.
We met as strangers, but are forever friends.
I am very thankful my four kids were able to be a part of the Angel Tree. Our family went through a very hard time with losing my grandma, my husband, who was my kids stepdad who made a huge impact on all of our lives, my dad who passed suddenly, and also their grandpa who they were really close with. These four deaths all happened within weeks of each other. I knew there would be no way I would be able to get them presents myself with everything that had happened. I am so thankful that someone reached out to me just to make sure that it was okay to put them on the tree. The kids loved everything they got for Christmas that year.
Krysten is an amazing person with a big heart who wants to help anyone and everyone in any way she can. She made a huge impact on my kids and me in such a hard time.
Krysten is an inspiration. The things that she does for communities, both big and small, is amazing and we need more people like her! The Angel Tree event she does is a knock out EVERY year.
To say that we are blessed to have Krysten in our community is an understatement!
We were fortunate enough to receive Angel Tree gifts last year and it made my kids day. They loved everything they got and were happy to have something for Christmas. We couldn't afford much and what The Payton Project did made my kids have a big smile!
